Anyone need help with transfers between Cairns airport and The Elandra? My darling friend Victoria has stepped up to the plate and is happy to start discussions and co-ordination of grouping flight arrivals (where possible) onto small buses to get people to and from the resort. She is also managing childcare requirements for the night of the Mixer and the Wedding itself and people with attending children will have been contact by Richard directly via email I hope to start the conversations about that as well.
You can get in contact with Victoria on victoria@mamalove.net.au.

We got the suits!!!
After days and days of shopping miles we finally settled on suits. And shoes. Still looking for ties and shirts, and do we have a fashion change between the ceremony and reception??? Oh the decisions.
Here's Richard at the pickup.

Part of something big...
As the wedding gets closer and closer, it is lovely to hear how everyone is getting so excited about it and looking forward to the event. Gay people have always had commitment ceremonies and parties to celebrate their love for each other, but we feel that our upcoming wedding is part of something much bigger, and that is adding to the excitement of it I think. We are reminded every day (particularly in Australia) about the battle for marriage equality in the media, and it reminds all of us involved in this wedding that we are all a part of that battle ourselves. It's an honest and peaceful battle and one that we will win I am sure, and I am so pleased that you are all coming on the journey with us.
Check out this amazing 'protest' that the organisation GetUp just managed to arrange...

Magda's Valentines Day Message
Happy Valentines Day everyone...
Here's an excerpt from the media reports today about our beloved Australian comedienne Magda Szubanski.
The comedian has dramatically thrown her celebrity behind the fight for marriage equality.
Here's an excerpt from the media reports today about our beloved Australian comedienne Magda Szubanski.
The comedian has dramatically thrown her celebrity behind the fight for marriage equality.
"I am 1000 per cent in favour of gay marriage," Szubanski said. "We pay taxes, fight wars for this country, nurse you when you are sick, make you laugh, sing and dance for you, play netball for you, star in your movies, cook your meals, decorate your store windows. And, chances are, gay people designed whatever it is you're wearing".
"All Australians, including gay Australians, should have exactly the same rights, including the right to love, marry and take care of our partners."
The Kath & Kim star said the law was unfair.
"The law means that you could be a serial killer and have killed all of your spouses and yet you would still be considered fit to marry," she said. "But if you are gay, then you are not worthy of these same rights."
Szubanski's plea follows the introduction of two private member's Bills, which seek to change the Marriage Act 1961 to define marriage as the union of two people, regardless of sex. One amendment was brought by Labor MP Stephen Jones and the other by Green Adam Bandt and independent Andrew Wilkie.

Time to shape up, people!!
If we are going to be able to fit into a fab suit for the wedding, then it's time to get serious about a bit of exercise and calorie control.
Last night Richard and I took a lovely power walk down to the harbour together. We talked about the ceremony and how we both saw it playing out, discussed catering, menu cards etc. it was all terribly romantic.
I have started a chat room community page on Facebook called "two boys marry" which gives guests a forum to chat about carpooling, house sharing etc. it will also serve to give you alerts when new blogs have been posted here. If you like Facebook, go there and like it now.

The HORROR!!!!!
You can just imagine the ripples of terror that swept through our perfect world when we read the article below about The Elandra.
http://www.cairns.com.au/article/2012/01/11/200241_local-news.html
Totally spun us out, and the wedding planner (Sharon) at The Resort was unavailable to take our calls until just a few days ago.
Crisis is now gladly over. We spoke to Sharon and all is well. The resort was totally smashed during cyclone Yasi earlier last year, and they have been making do with carrying on their operation around the damage, but have recently made the decision to close down for a few months to renovate and repair. Our wedding will be the first scheduled once the renovations are omelette, so word on the street is that we'll all be the first to enjoy the the pristine new property in all it's glory, and Sharon has promised that our group will enjoy the 'sparkle' of being the first wedding party through the resort.
So what started out as a major drama, and blossomed into something great.

Finally... The invites are out!!!
Here's Richard posting the invitations FINALLY!!! We had a few drama's with the printing and getting the delivery of the final printed invites, as they got lost in the xmas postal nightmare. Richard turned into a bit of a Groomzilla because he wasn't 100% happy with the 'stock' the printers had used, but I convinced him that getting the invites out was more important than the way they felt under finger.
A quick tip for all of you planning on flying to the wedding. The best airport to fly into is Cairns, but you can also fly into Townsville as well (the travel time to Mission Beach is a little longer ex Townsville).
